August: Open-source future and install race

Date

7pm, Wednesday, 12 August 2026

Richard O’Donoghue’s talk “I’m worried about open source and so should you” has been cancelled, due to the speaker’s being unwell. Get well soon, Richard!

The first ever non-annual 1v1 secret install grand prix

Contestants: Brendon Green, Robbie Mckennie
Referee: Nick Skarott

Two of our members have agreed to a race. Only thing is, they don’t know what they will have to install, or what the goal is until the race itself. It’s 100% fair, unbiased, totally-rigged-in-favour-of-audience-enjoyment Linux fun. The referee also has an extra challenge up his sleeve, should the first one prove too easy…

Venue

Milson Community Centre

Cost

$2 gold coin donation

Coffee and biscuits will be provided, sponsored by Inspire Net, but please feel free to bring along your own snacks and drinks.
