August: Open-source future and install race

Date

Session 1/2: I’m worried about open source and so should you

Speaker: Richard O’Donoghue

We love open source software, but the ecosystem around it isn’t without its problems, and given recent events, I worry about the future. This talk will be a dive into the issues, and what the future could look like—both positive and negative.

Session 2/2: The first ever non-annual 1v1 secret install grand prix

Contestants: Brendon Green, Robbie Mckennie
Referee: Nick Skarott

Two of our members have agreed to a race. Only thing is, they don’t know what they will have to install, or what the goal is until the race itself. It’s 100% fair, unbiased, totally-rigged-in-favour-of-audience-enjoyment Linux fun.

Venue

Milson Community Centre

Cost

$2 gold coin donation

Coffee and biscuits will be provided, sponsored by Inspire Net, but please feel free to bring along your own snacks and drinks.
