Hugin makes panoramas from photos. John will show you how. Hugin can be downloaded from http://hugin.sourceforge.net/ or installed using a Linux package manager. It also runs on Windows and MacOS.

Session 2 - Etckeeper

etckeeper is a collection of tools to let /etc be stored in a git, mercurial, darcs, or bzr repository. It hooks into apt (and other package managers including yum and pacman-g2) to automatically commit changes made to /etc during package upgrades. It tracks file metadata that revison control systems do not normally support, but that is important for /etc, such as the permissions of /etc/shadow. It's quite modular and configurable, while also being simple to use if you understand the basics of working with revision control.

A LiveCD lets one take an entire OS and make it bootable, fully functional, and occasionally installable. Brynn will show how he creates the Spinning Planet OS which is a fully functioning OS with applications like Chrome, Thunderbird and Audacity that is run from a USB stick.

John will show how he designed his personal website to work on both little and big screens. He shows how his web pages spread horizontally to take advantage of big screens, and then stack vertically for phones. He'll also show how Drupal can help users put in images that are the right size. He does this through the Adaptive Theme which uses EM, %, max-width, and media queries. Whilst the talk is Drupal centric, many of the techniques and philisophies can be used on other CMSs.
